The use of iodine-enriched salt in the kitchen and at the dinning table ensures EVERYONE the correct amount of iodine essential for the growth of children and the PREVENTION of many thyroid disorders.

Presal® is approved by the AME

AME approves Presal® as a "Source of Iodine" nutrition.
Its use in agro-food products, instead of common salt, makes these products a "source of Iodine" and as such they contribute to IODOPROPHYLASSIS AT THE TABLE (see Ministerial Law n ° 55 of 2005).

The recommended doses of iodine

The daily Iodine requirement is 150 mcg in adults, to be increased up to 250 mcg for pregnant and breastfeeding women, 90 - 120 mcg in growing children.

Research agreement

In 2006, Caber entered into a research agreement with the Department of Agro-Food Sciences and Technologies of the University of Bologna and created Presal® protected iodine.

Published Clinical Studies

Presal® iodine is also assimilated when used as an ingredient, as demonstrated by published clinical studies *, completed by Caber with the Department of Endocrinology of the University of Pisa.

Can one acquire needed iodine through the air, especially sea air?

FALSE. The quantity of iodine absorbed from the air is negligible.

Is whole sea salt very rich in iodine?

FALSE. The iodine content of whole sea salt is negligible.

Should anyone suffering from thyroid disease or those with a particular sensitivity not use iodine-enriched salt?

FALSE. The iodine content of the enriched salt is such as to guarantee a physiological quantity with a diet.

Is iodized salt a cure for thyroid disease?

FALSE. The iodized salt is not a cure, but a preventive measure, as specified by the Ministry of Health.

Can iodized salt be used by everyone?

TRUE. Anyone can use iodized salt, even people suffering from thyroid diseases. Any excess iodine is excreted in the urine.
